Camping

Camping is where the outdoors becomes home. Learn to build a comfortable, safe camp and to leave every place exactly as you found it.

Introduction

What is Camping?

Camping is the skill of living comfortably and responsibly outdoors. A good camper can choose a safe pitch, set up shelter quickly, cook a proper meal and sleep well, then leave no trace behind.

We teach camping as a practical craft. You will practise pitching, cooking, organising camp and managing weather in real conditions, supported by experienced members.

  • Choose a safe, responsible campsite
  • Pitch and manage a tent in weather
  • Cook simple, nutritious camp meals
  • Organise a comfortable camp layout
  • Manage water, waste and hygiene
  • Leave no trace when you leave

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do I need my own tent?

For many camps, shared or loan tents are available. For personal trips, a suitable tent is one of the best first investments.

Is camping safe for beginners?

Yes, with the right guidance. Beginner camps are supported, planned and briefed, and campsite safety is taught first.

What about toilet and waste?

We practise leave-no-trace camping, including proper waste disposal and site selection. These are taught in every camp.

Can I camp without hiking?

Yes. Some camps are low-approach and focused on camp craft and community.

What if it rains?

We plan for weather. A properly pitched tent and good layering keep you comfortable, and we adjust plans when needed.
